Design Project Manager

The Design Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the design phase of construction projects, with a focus on collaboration and coordination between the preconstruction team, external design partners, subcontractors, and clients. This role requires experience in estimating and design-build within the public works sector. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering strong relationships, ensuring that design and preconstruction activities align with project goals and client expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design process for construction projects, ensuring that all design activities align with project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Work closely with external design partners, subcontractors, clients, and the internal preconstruction team to ensure a collaborative and integrated     approach to design and construction.
  • Provide input and support to the estimating team during the preconstruction phase, helping to develop accurate and competitive bids.
  • Lead design-build projects, ensuring that design solutions meet project requirements and client expectations while maintaining budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the design phase, addressing any concerns and ensuring that their vision is accurately reflected in the final design.
  • Work with subcontractors to ensure that design details are clearly communicated and understood, facilitating a smooth transition from design to construction.
  • Conduct regular design reviews with the project team, identifying and resolving any potential issues before they impact the construction phase.
  • Ensure that all design documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date, including drawings, specifications, and change orders.
  • Identify and resolve design-related issues as they arise, working proactively to minimize disruptions to the project schedule or budget.
  • Promote continuous improvement in design and preconstruction processes, identifying opportunities to enhance collaboration and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction design management, with specific experience in estimating and design-build within the public     works sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in design and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Procore) and familiar with estimating tools and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and     internal teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for fostering collaboration and building positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address design challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with public works design and construction requirements, with proven experience in delivering successful public sector projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to guide and influence design teams and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on ensuring that all design elements are accurate, feasible, and aligned with client expectations.

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer at Kemp Bros Construction, you will be an integral part of the project management team, responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the construction project are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality. You will work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to coordinate the day-to-day operations on-site, manage project documentation, and facilitate communication between all stakeholders. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about contributing to the successful delivery of complex construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

• Manage and maintain all project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project logs.

• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services, resolving any issues that may arise.

• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure safety compliance, and address any concerns that may impact the project timeline or quality.

• Support the Project Manager in preparing and presenting meeting notes, project reports, including cost analysis, progress updates, and risk assessments.

• Assist in the review and interpretation of construction drawings and specifications, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with project requirements.

• Participate in project meetings, providing updates on engineering tasks, identifying potential risks, and proposing solutions to challenges.

• Foster a positive working relationship with all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and other team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience in construction project engineering, preferably with a focus on public sector projects.

• Proficiency in construction management software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, BIM, and Microsoft Project.

• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.

• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality in all work performed.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the construction industry.

• Ability to interpret and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project conditions and requirements.

Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager at Kemp Bros Construction is a pivotal leader in our construction management team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of construction processes, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Project Manager will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. This role also involves mentoring and developing junior project management staff, contributing to the overall growth and success of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, execution, and closing of construction projects, ensuring that all project objectives are met.

• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring efficient allocation and use of materials, labor, and equipment.

• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish clear project goals, deliverables, and timelines.

• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or issues, and implement effective solutions to keep projects on track.

• Oversee and manage all project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and financial reports.

• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards, and building codes throughout the project lifecycle.

• Lead project meetings, providing clear communication of project status, milestones, and any changes to stakeholders.

• Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that all agreements are met, and disputes are resolved efficiently.

• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address any issues, and ensure that work is being performed according to plans and specifications.

• Collaborate with the Quality Control Manager to ensure that all work meets or exceeds company standards and client expectations.

• Mentor and guide project teams, including Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

• Prepare and present regular project reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, risks, and financial performance.

• Contribute to the development and refinement of project management processes, tools, and best practices within the company.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

• 15+ years of experience in construction project management, with a strong preference for experience in public sector projects.

• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.

• Proficiency in construction management software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.

• Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.

• Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
